Our story
Inori's story started years ago, from living in Japan to Miriam's love for matcha: everything led them to this moment.

Where it all started
Miriam is 24 and Dani is 22 years old, both born and raised in Granollers, a town near Barcelona; they grew up doing everything together. With their families, they traveled the world: they lived in Paris, Tokyo and Barcelona. Family is everything to them, and part of the reason behind building Inori: through them, they've understood the importance of tradition, faith and self love - a message they're excited to share with everyone.

Childhood in Japan
As 8 and 9 year old kids, Dani and Miriam moved to Tokyo with their parents. Being surrounded by Japanese culture, tradition and neighbours who turned into family, their lives were changed forever. Japan shaped their personalities and character, and they've gone back multiple times to revisit their home away from home.

A life abroad
Miriam now lives in Amsterdam, a city she adores and that truly feels like home. She's a full-time fashion & lifestyle creator. Dani is currently living in Barcelona - he's a passionate business lover and entrepreneur. Their parents recently moved to Shanghai so they're all on the move again, excited to keep building a life abroad.

It's been going on for years...
When they lived in Japan around 2011, matcha was everywhere: tea ceremonies, Japanese pastries, even matcha lattes were starting to gain popularity, and Miriam was already obsessed with them. As much as it wasn't love at first sip (pure matcha green tea tasted very strong) she quickly started loving it and has been drinking it ever since. Matcha and the ceremony around it is more than just a drink for her: it takes her back to some very special moments of her childhood and is a reminder to pause and to give thanks.

They finally started their business
After working on it for months, they registered their business in early April. For a year, they ordered many samples, went through multiple rebrandings, and after overcoming many bumps on the road, they decided it was time to revisit their roots.

Time to go back home
After 8 years of not being back, they booked their flights to Japan and stayed for a couple of weeks, revisiting their favourite spots, spending time with their neighbours and learning even more about matcha, the current market, the process, and listening to everything their Japanese family had to say about the ritual.

Back to Amsterdam
After struggling for months to find the right supplier who understood their vision, one day, it all clicked: Miriam contacted Clay Studio, a ceramics studio that was very special to her as it opened on her street when she first moved to Amsterdam. Almost 2 years later, they're now working together: a true full circle moment.
